Underfloor heating installation
Heating engineers and MCS certified installers covering all London boroughs, Kent and Essex, including Dartford, Bexley, Bromley, Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells, Thurrock and Brentwood.
New Form Plumbing Ltd designs and installs wet underfloor heating in new builds, extensions, loft conversions and whole house refurbishments across London and Kent. Underfloor heating spreads gentle warmth across the whole floor instead of relying on hot spots at the radiators, and because it works at low flow temperatures it is the ideal partner for an air source heat pump.
What we do with underfloor heating
Design and heat loss calculation
Every room is calculated properly: heat loss, pipe spacing, circuit lengths and flow temperatures, matched to your floor construction and floor covering. That is what makes the difference between a floor that heats the room and a floor that never quite gets there.
Installation in new builds and renovations
We install screeded systems, low profile overlay boards for retrofits where floor height matters, and joisted floor systems upstairs. Manifolds are positioned where you can actually reach them, and every circuit is pressure tested and labelled before the screed goes down.
Controls, commissioning and heat pump pairing
Room by room controls let you heat the rooms you use and leave the rest. We commission and balance the manifold, set the curves, and where the system runs from a heat pump we set the flow temperature for efficiency rather than leaving it on a factory default.
Our work

Frequently asked questions
Is underfloor heating suitable for an existing house?
Usually yes. Where floor height is tight we use low profile overlay systems that add very little to the finished level, and on suspended timber floors we install between the joists. We look at the floor construction, the insulation and the door thresholds before recommending an approach.
Does underfloor heating work well with a heat pump?
It is the best possible match. Underfloor heating covers a huge surface area, so it warms the room at a low flow temperature, and the lower the flow temperature the more efficiently a heat pump runs. If you are thinking about a heat pump now or in the future, underfloor heating is the sensible choice.
Can I have underfloor heating in just one room?
Yes. Kitchens, bathrooms, extensions and open plan living spaces are the most common single room installations. We can run it off your existing boiler or heat pump with its own manifold and controls.
What floor coverings can I put over it?
Tile and stone are ideal because they conduct heat well. Engineered wood, vinyl and even carpet work provided the total floor covering resistance is within the manufacturer limits. Tell us what you plan to lay and we will design the system around it rather than discovering the problem afterwards.
Is it slower to heat up than radiators?
It responds more gently, which is the point. Rather than blasting heat and switching off, underfloor heating holds the room at a steady temperature, which feels more comfortable and suits the way modern heating controls and heat pumps work. Good controls handle the rest.
Does it need servicing?
Very little. The pipework in the floor has no moving parts and a long service life. What benefits from attention is the manifold, the pump, the actuators and the system water quality, all of which we check as part of a normal heating service.
What happens if something leaks under the floor?
Properly installed circuits are laid in continuous lengths with no joints buried in the screed, and every circuit is pressure tested before and after the screed. That is why buried leaks are rare. If there is ever a problem we have thermal imaging equipment to find it without digging up the whole floor.
Can you work with my builder or architect?
Yes, and the earlier the better. If we are involved at design stage we can coordinate insulation, screed depths, manifold positions and thresholds with the build programme instead of working around decisions that have already been made.
Do you work on commercial buildings?
Yes, and a large part of our work is commercial. We hold the accreditations needed to design, install and certify commercial heating, hot water and gas plant, and we have completed projects in schools and churches as well as offices, restaurants, care homes, hospitals, apartment blocks and multi occupancy buildings. We are used to working in occupied buildings and will plan the work around term times, services and opening hours.
Fully accredited commercial contractor
Commercial installations
Commercial work runs through everything we do. We hold the accreditations needed to design, install, certify and maintain commercial heating, hot water and gas systems, and we are used to working in buildings that stay open while we do it.
Schools and churches
We have completed projects in schools and churches, working around term times, services and the people using the building.
Restaurants and commercial kitchens
Commercial catering gas, extraction, interlocks and pipework, installed and certified to the standards environmental health expect.
Blocks, offices and care homes
Plant rooms, risers and distribution pipework for apartment blocks, offices, shops, care homes and hospitals, with planned maintenance afterwards.
Gas Safe registered for commercial work, MCS certified, OFTEC and REFCOM registered, TrustMark and RECC members. Full design, installation, commissioning, certification and maintenance from one team.
